Students, faculty, alums, what’s your opinion?
I live next door to it, and I have a friend on the Board of Trustees. Most of the faculty (and a few Board Members) is vehemently opposed to it, but the students are most affluent and conservative.
Most people in the neighborhood don’t want the traffic or the attention. A few of us don’t want the legacy.
In an incredibily conservative area, there were a couple of demonstrations to stop it last month, followed by an op ed piece in the paper questioning the whole reason for a library.
I don’t go to SMU, but if I did, I would drop out or transfer schools because of the Bush presidential library.
