I want to work at my local library. But I have no references?
I’m a student in high school and I want to work at the library. But I have no references that aren’t my relatives, what do I do?
References? What? You’re a high school student – you’re going to be shelving books not guiding children through research reports.
Where I work you can’t even write references for fear that someone you recommend might commit fraud or murder and the city will be sued. We rely on your fluency in your application, your interview, a little test we’ve worked up that you have to pass,.. and, we also will only hire you as a "temporary, at will employee" so if you mess up we can fire you immediately rather than give you a two week notice.
Our application also has a spot for references, but it’s the same application used for the City Attorney and for them it’s important. Find people you know and ask them, but don’t spend a lot of time worrying about it.

Do you have neighbors or teachers???? Teachers would be great. BTW/if you are working in a library work on your grammar & be sure you spell correctly–you are supposed to be a reference to education! LOL
