I just went to the public library, to get this book I so badly wanted, but I don’t need it for school or anything. When I went to sign it out, the librarian said it was a reference book and I could only read it in the library. But its so big, I just want to take it out. Is there anyway I can ?
When a library makes a book reference, they always want to have the book available for people to use, so it doesn’t check out. There are some exceptions, especially in college libraries where some reference material may check out overnight.
If you really want to read this book, ask the librarian if there is a copy that does check out, or if she could place an interlibrary loan for a copy you can check out.
You might also ask the librarian if you might buy an older copy at a library book sale or a Friends of the Library store. Our library friends group is having a HUGE sale next weekend, and many copies of last year’s reference books will be on sale for $1.00
Can you get a reference book out of the library ?

Rarely is one allowed to check out a reference. Try buying a used copy on half.com.
