Is it true that there are not many public libraries in Eire?

From the first two posts it sounds like it is not true.

NO ! that is completely false. There are at least 6 libraries within 5 miles of where in live in North Dublin. In addition because my nearest library is 2 miles away in Malahide and the other one is 2 miles away in Baldoyle, the library service run a mobile unit to our area every week. You just ring the local library and they deliver the books to your home. In addition this service is completely free. The staff at Baldoyle are brilliant and will even ring you at home to alert you when a book which you have requested is available.
10 out of 10 for service.

What kind of a remark is that to make about Limerick, "Don"??
they are plenty of libraries in Limerick, Tipperary and every other county every other. Reading is still a very strong pastime here. They may not stick out at you with Neon signs with the word "sale" on the windows but they are plenty there, trust me.

Don, you got your cheap laugh with my home county, I wouldn’t even bother asking you where you are from. It boils my blood but its not worth continuing my gripe with you.

Yes, they’ve all been privatised now. The cost of taking out a book has quadrupled and the service is terrible.
Although on the plus side there’s plenty of shouting going on in them what with disgruntled customers and all that.
