Do we really need them anymore? Does anyone even use them anymore? Are they at all relevant, or are they relics?
I’m actually a volunteer at a library and I know a lot of my colleagues feel as if a lot of people are coming in for the use of computer and to check out DVDs and CDs. But still, there are many people who are checking out literature, researching projects, and working at the tables we provide. I think libraries are still relevant in this time and I hope they never become a thing of the past.
Additionally, with the economy as it is now, libraries may be more relevant and useful to our society than ever. A fact you may not know is that the more check-outs a library gets, the more funding they receive. Support your library today!
i don’t use them like i used to- they never have exactly what i want, and i can usually find used versions of the books i want pretty cheap at amazon. however, with the economy the way it is, i might start going back to the library.

Online libraries are becoming the thing of the future!
And as more poverty-striken schoolkids are realizing that they are at no disadvantage simply living in a pocket-kept flash drive and using the "host" computers at the library, the existing libraries are becoming the high tech lifeline of the lower classes, thusly transforming the disadvantaged into the upper class! I keep an 8G flash drive in my pocket at all times. But I admit that a cheapie 1G really is plenty for most people. Regards, Larry.

a lot of people still use public libraries, and i don’t think they’ll ever "die down" or become useless.
there are lots of things in libraries other than books. computers, videos, old recordings, records, etc.
they’ll always be there as a reliable resource to tons of information.
sure, technology is always becoming more and more advanced, what with the internet and all, but i think the library is more stable than that. it’s information can be better trusted, because anybody can type anything on the internet and call it true.
personally, i love libraries.
i love walking down the aisles of books, talking to the librarians, seeing people study..
it’s a good feeling that a lot of people have, too.

It depends on where you live, in big cities the library is very resourceful. They have regularly updated collections, and the library subscribes to online databases with e-zine, periodicals, and other research tools which you can access from your own home with library ID. I’d say they’re very relevant, you don’t need to buy all the books in the world when they’re available at your local library.
