Does anyone know if there is an online library you can borrow/rent books from?

I like reading and am always spotting books I want to read but I can’t afford to buy them all and my local library is rubbish, it hardly has any books at all! Does anyone know if there is a website you can rent books from? I would be happy to pay a small charge for such a service.
I tried bookmeabook.com, it’s based in India lol!!

I rent books. The selection in my library is crap as well, and what is available for free online are mostly books in the public domain, nothing recent from my favorite authors.

The service I use is Booksfree: http://www.booksfree.com/learnmore.shtml

There are others though i.e. Paperspine and Bookswim. Booksfree is a bit cheaper than those two (though they increased the rates recently).

you can buy very cheap books on ebay and amazon. Abebooks.co.uk is another good site for cheap books. Can cost pence depending on the book. £2 or £3 delivery charges usually apply but sometimes its free.

    http://www.ebooks.com
(good choice of ebooks, usually pretty low prices)
    http://www.gutenberg.org
(free; tens of thousands of copyright-free titles; many classics)
    http://www.bookclub.com
(like any book club, this [after you choose one you like] will practically give you five books, then charge you pretty much for any more; if you take only the five books and watch your wallet, you might like this one)
    http://www.audiobooks.com
(site also has many audiobooks and you see at the bottom "rent" – just as you request)

Most of these safe links will charge you something for a book.
If you are ready to pay the fees, you’re on to reading whatever you like.
    Have fun.

My library has a website you can go to where you can pick any book and even if they don’t have it they will send away to another library and get it for you . If you have a book in mind you can even go to your library and ask if they have it, if they don’t they can do everything right there to send away for it. Usually it only takes a few days for the book to came in. Most libraries I have heard of have things like this, yours probably does too.
