where can i buy a library card catalog cabinet for storing CDs?

i want to get a old school style library card catalog cabinet (a small 1) to store CDs/DVDs in where should i look?

I have seen these for purchase at both The Wireless catalogue (http://www.thewirelesscatalog.com/wireless/Item_Library-CD-Storage-Cabinet_HA2002G_ps_srm.html)

and Target ((http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/602-7072425-8909422?asin=B0001XR7E8&AFID=MSN&LNM=B0001XR7E8|Library_Style_Multimedia_Cabinet_-_Oak&ref=tgt_adv_XPSD0500))

But try asking a library if they have an old one as well! I imagine that many are moving to computers and might be "retiring" their card catalog holders.

    Go to the main library and ask the librarian if they know what happened to the old ones. They might be in storage somewhere and could come up for sale. Check Ebay too.

    Are you sure a CD will fit? They might not be standardised thing but I think the drawers would be too short to close with a cd in it.

    Check an antique shop. Sadly most of them were broke up or discarded (no pun intended) years ago..

    Library catalogs held standard 3 inch by 5 inch catalog cards. (7.5 cm x 12.5 cm) A CD case is 12.5 cm x 14 cm – so one dimension would fit but you’d have to lay them flat. – not great for viewing. I bought some drawers from a library switching to computers…17 years ago. Good luck finding a US library today that’s just now converting.

    Since you’ll have to go to Ebay and be willing to get them freighted to you from Timbuktu anyway, I’d suggest pharmacy cabinets. The drawers are often bigger and you can stand the CD’s upright. As you can see on the attached Ebay ad, the dimensions are larger. Its problem is that the drawers are 7 inches and a DVD case is 7.5… well, and the seller wants $1700.
