How many books will I be able to order from the library before the librarians get tired of me?

So, I went to the library and asked the librarian if they had a book I was looking for. They didn’t, but they were great enough to order it for me.

I have a pretty long list of books I’m interested in reading, most of which the library doesn’t carry – but I don’t want to become a pest and have the librarians constantly ordering books for me.

Will the librarians eventually draw the line and suggest I try other libraries for books that they don’t carry?

Probably. What you really need is a disguise chest. Wear a different fake mustache every time you order a book.

But seriously, just try to space them out. Order a book every week or two, and if they say something negative, stop and smile bashfully. They’ll love you for loving books. And they’ll never really be mad, just a little exasperated.

Nope — as long as you keep asking, they’ll keep getting them for you. They love books, too!

No, that is their job. Don’t feel pesty. Libraries need patrons to stay open. Nowadays with Amazon and Barnes and Noble, it is good that people like you want to use the library. Maybe you can pay them back by donating money or time to help them out.

My library lets us do an online request ourselves, which allows me to request as many books as I want without having the librarian do it for me. You might want to ask if your library has a similar "do it yourself" service.

They should never turn you away.

Their job is to provide you with the books that you want to read, and it’s their job to NOT turn you away. If they ever do that, maybe you should be going to a different, more helpful library. It’s not your fault that the library you attend is so poorly stocked – they should get those books for you.

Well.. I am the poster child for getting too many books.. I order books online.. And they never come in at the same time.. So I order like 30 at a time.. Well.. Last week they all came in at the same time.. The librarians don’t hate me… They think it is so funny.. I was just as bad when I was little.. My library put me in an adopt a book pamphlet thing.. So now I am in a book and pamphlet for reading too much.. So it is never a bad thing to have too many books.. Believe me..

    Ahaha, awwhh.

Become buddies with them. If they were nice in the beginning, chances are they wouldn’t mind helping you at all. I’m the same way – I get SO many books. Libraries are pretty hard to navigate though, but whenever you can, look into the computers and see if you can find a lot of them yourself.
