do you like to borrow books from the library?

I sometimes prefer to buy books instead because how do you feel about all those germs and diseased hands that have touched the library books and now you have hold them for hours while you read? but thats just me, what d u think?

I agree. I like to buy books instead usually just because i like having owning them for the sake of owning them. to me, it seems like library books (at least the ones ive checked out) have a bit of a smell. maybe its just because theyre older and they’ve been used a lot.

This is truly something I try to repress when reading a library book. Fact is you need to build immunities or a common cold will bring you down. If I had endless resources to fund my addiction to reading there would be no problems. Although if you think about it books are made in factories where mice and bugs run wild and poop on things… gross as well. Which is the lesser of two evils? I pick the one that I don’t have to pay for. Unless it’s for my book club and I need to be able to mark it up and the reading takes place over a month.

That never even occurred to me. But I mean, as long as you’re not eating off it or licking it. It’s not like it’ll grab you and stuff all the germs down you’re throat. I like buying books because I can keep them for more than 2 weeks but I don’t see anything wrong with borrowing them.

we have a small branch library near me,but over the 40 yrs I’ve borrowed from it I have read almost all I want from them. So now I go to a book exchange store, I bring them my books and they give me so much and they have thousands of books to pick from and I take shopping bags full so I don’t have to worry about fines or going in bad weather or losing them . Of course I pay for the books but I do get any kind I want for a quarter of the price.

I like to by buy my books as well but since I’ve started my online book club i found it easier to go to the library. I’m a nurse so handwashing is something I do often and not just @work,So i rarely think of the germa and besides most germs can’t liveon a surface without a host for too long.

Borrowing books clearly has its advantages, because you can save your money! Sometimes you buy a new book and it turns out to be boring, so then you would have to make another trip to the bookstore to return it. With a library, you can borrow the book, see if it’s good, and then buy it if you really love it! A library is a wonderful way to discover new ways of writing, new authors, new ideas, and new books!

Well, I like to read the book before I get it then if I don’t like it I can just return it instead of having wasted money on buying it. If you’re worried about the germs, just make sure towash your hands after you read a book from the library. :-)
