In Maniac Magee, there was a gang of blacks and a gang of whites. In Where the Red Fern Grows, Billy joined a hunt to win a trophy with a gang of other competitors. In Bridge to Terabithia, Jesse had to deal with several different characters at school. The chapters distinguished most of the plots. When the chapter change, so did the setting and plot in all of the books.
