How to find a sleeping spot inside Hargrave-Andrew Library Monash University Australia Clayton Campus?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Or any other library will do..

I usually go to some dark corners (with sofa) and sleep there, but these days there’s always someone studying there, I can’t find a spot to have a good nap… any ideas? This is a very serious problem because lack of sleep -> cannot concentrate in classes -> failed unit

Help!!! Thanks lol

I’m in shock and awe at both this question and answer! I used to be a rep. for Monash in Thailand, and have visited Clayton Campus. And I used to have a high opinion of the uni., until now, that is.

Why Colleges and Libraries allow anyone to borrow, even if people are illegal and can be Deported sudenly?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

If the people are deported suddenly, the Colleges and Libraries wil most likely lose the materials..because those people will not have time to return the stuff. If they’re caught and deported back to their country,,, the stuff will get lost or damaged.

But colleges and libraries don’t seem to care. I’ve always wondered why they dont care?

Anyone know?

Most colleges don’t let just anyone borrow. Sometimes you can get a temporary borrowing card with limited privileges if you’re a student at another university and/or a resident of that state. Otherwise you can consult materials there, but can’t take them out.

For public libraries, a lot of the books are donations and there are small limits on how many books people can take out at a time at a public library precisely because so many regular citizens fail to return their books and pay their fines. The rare incident where an illegal immigrant takes out 2-3 books and is deported pales in comparison. If any library had a significant problem with deported patrons, then they might change their policies, but generally it’s not much of a concern.

What materials do I need to join my local public library?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

i want to join a library, the one in my city does not carry a certain book. a public library 30 minutes a way does. am i able to join that one even though i live 30 minutes away? AND I just moved so my drivers license has my old mailing address…..is this ok or what do i have to do?

Take in a piece of mail that has your name and new address on it.
As for the more distant library having your book, most library systems are on a sharing system and the books from elsewhere can be delivered to your library.

what makes a book a "reference" book at a library instead of being just a regular "shelf" book?

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

the books i need most are "reference books" and i can’t take them out for a few days. I’m stuck with the useless "shelf" books at the library. Why can’t i take out the "reference" books? how do they decide what a "reference" book is or a "shelf" book is??

The reference books are ones usually used for reserach and there are usually not many of them and a lot of people want to use them. Often they are current text books and are in high demand. You cannot take them out of the library because they try to make sure that everyone gets access to them for short periods of time.

Going to jail for not turning in library books?

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

I was looking at entertainment tonight a few days and they were talking about how this lady was arrested for not turning in her library books which cost only 107.00 in total. Can they (the library) do this kind of crap? If so that is so petty and ridiculous.
The lady who went to jail was only 20 years old.

Lol.
This Is Retarded!

Seriously.
